Admission Requirements
1 Basic Eligibility
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid regular passport, aged between 18 and 45 (inclusive), and must be in good health, both physically and mentally. All applicants must comply with the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China.
2 Academic Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
(1) Be an upcoming graduate of a master's program and obtain the master's degree prior to enrollment in the year of admission. Failure to do so will result in the revocation of the admission offer, or
(2) Already hold a master's degree or its equivalent.
3 Language Proficiency
For Chinese-taught programs: A minimum score of 180 on the HSK Level 5 test is required.
For English-taught programs: Applicants must be native English speakers, or provide evidence of English proficiency through one of the following approved English skill test scores:
IELTS: 6.5 or above
TOEFL iBT: 80 or above
Duolingo English Test: 110 or above

2 Online Application
2.1 Register an account and log in to the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) International Student Online Application System at http://ao.sufe.edu.cn.
2.2 Navigate to the Chinese-taught or English-taught Doctor Program section, and choose “Apply”.
2.3 Complete the online application form and upload color scans of the required original documents.

3 Document Review and Supplement
Applicants are advised to check the review results regularly through the official application portal and submit any additional documents as required.
4 Entrance Assessment
Everyone on the shortlist will be invited to
attend an interview. Interviews help our Admissions Officers
to get to know you and your motivations for applying to SUFE; they contribute
to our assessment of your academic potential and suitability for your chosen
major, while giving you the opportunity to expand on the written elements of
your application.
5 Admission Decision
5.1 Checking Admission Results: Admission is granted on a competitive basis, considering the applicant's academic credentials and performance in the entrance assessment. Applicants can check their results through the SUFE International Student Online Application System. When you log in, you'll see a crimson-colored banner with Admitted/Not Admitted. Click on that banner to view more details.
*Admission results will not be disclosed over the phone.
5.2 Online Acceptance of Admission Offer: Admitted students must log in to the application system and confirm their acceptance of the offer by June 30, 2026. Failure to do so will be regarded as a forfeiture of the admission qualification.
5.3 Issuance of Admission Documents: SUFE will begin dispatching admission documents, including the official Admission Notice and the Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 Form), from July 2026.
