Application Requirements
General
1. In order to be considered for admission, applicant must be a citizen of a country other than the People's Republic of China, and be in good health.
2. A bachelor program applicant, who has acquired foreign nationality by birth but has at least one parent who is Chinese, or who has immigrated from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan to another country, should meet the requirements in “Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC” (http://www.moe.gov.cn/srcsite/A20/moe_850/202006/t20200609_464159.html)
Academic qualification & Age
18-25 years old, AND
have completed senior high school education or will receive, by the summer before matriculation at SUFE in September 2026, a high school diploma.
Language proficiency
Applicant need to meet the Chinese proficiency requirement through HSK. Minimum requirement is HSK 5 with a score over 180.
Application
Take the China Scholastic Competency Assessment（CSCA）before April 30, 2026.
All the applicants, no matter which major you apply for, must sit the Math test. You can choose either Chinese test or English test.
Humanities Chinese test result is not required if your intended major is Teaching Chinese to speakers of Other Languages. Applicants of other majors must take Humanities Chinese test.
Apply for admission of undergraduate degree program via SUFE Application Portal(April 1, 2026 - April 30, 2026).
Check undergraduate programs, confirm the specific entry requirements, application process and required documentation for your application before starting the online application. Remit the application fee (CNY830 or its equivalent in foreign currency), and submit the program application through SUFE Applicant Portal. Under the “Financial Support” section of the online application form, please indicate that you plan to apply for “SUFE Undergraduate Freshman Scholarship”.
Take the admission interview between April 2026 and May 2026
You are required to take the admission assessments (online interview).
Selection Process
If you receive from SUFE an offer of a place in the bachelor program, you will be shortlisted for the scholarship evaluation.
* If you have applied for Shanghai Government Scholarship, received SUFE’s bachelor admission offer, but are not granted with the Shanghai Government Scholarship, will automatically qualify for the evaluation of the SUFE Undergraduate Freshman Scholarship.
It is important to note that during the selection process:
the eligibility criteria will be applied automatically, using the details you provide in the relevant sections of the application form (for example, your country of ordinary residence and your previous education institutions), to determine whether you are eligible.
* The scholarship is awarded based on merits (academics, test scores, extracurricular activities, community service, etc.), not on your need for financial aid.
Scholarship Outcomes
Scholarship selection normally takes place in May. If you have not heard from us by July 15, 2026, then please assume that you have been unsuccessful.
