Admission Requirements

In order to be considered for admission, you must:

-be a non-Chinese citizen, 18-45 years old, in good health,

-have completed senior high school education or will receive a high school diploma by the summer before matriculation at SUFE in September 2026, AND

-be a native English speaker or meet the English language requirement through one of the following English skill test scores:

 IELTS: 6.0 or above

 TOEFL iBT: 80 or above

 Duolingo English Test: 100 or above.

Application Documents

The application documents in hard copies are not required. Please scan and upload the scans in the Upload Materials section of the Applicant Portal. You will need to scan and submit:

Please use the ID photo taken within the last 6 months. The head in the photograph must be facing the camera straight on, and the face may not be obscured. The photo itself must be in color, but the background needs to be white or blue. Head coverings are prohibited.

Your passport should be valid beyond January 31, 2027.

If you are in the final year, please upload a certificate indicating the entry and the expected graduation date.

You need to apply with academic transcript for all the courses taken from high school grade one. It would be appreciated that the transcript is attached with a clarification on the grading system and how your GPA is calculated.

Please upload the passport ID page if you are a native English speaker. Applicants who are not native English speakers should present TOEFL iBT 80 / IELTS (academic) 6.0 (overall)  / Duolingo English Test 100 or certification of high school curriculum are taught in English.

7. Personal statement

It should be written in English, 800-1000 words including the applicant's education (and working experience, if applicable), study plan, etc. and enclosed with the applicant's signature.

The letter should be recent, dated, in English/Chinese, and with referee's contact details (employer, position, email, phone number). If you cannot upload the letter by yourself, please use an explanation letter and ask the referee to send the letter to ices@sufe.edu.cn before the application deadline.

9. Police Clearance Certificate

A Police Clearance Certificate, known in other names such as Police Certificate, Criminal History Record Check, certifying that the applicant has never partaken in any criminal activity that led to the involvement of the police force. Please go to your local police authority where you reside, request that the police conduct a local or state criminal records search and provide you with a document reflecting that there is no history of a criminal record. The Police Clearance Certificate should be dated within the last 6 months. If you are unable to maintain such a document due to unforeseen circumstances, please contact Admission Office as early as possible for alternative documentation.

Your program application will not be processed without a funding documentation.

Your personal sponsor should be able to provide full financial support for your educational and living expenses for the entire length of study at SUFE. Ask your personal sponsor to complete the appropriate sections of the formGuarantee of Financial Support.pdf and provide a scanned copy of his/her passport, or ID card of the sponsor is of Chinese nationality. The form you submit must:

• Provide correct and complete information

• Include with the signature of the sponsor, and

• Be written in English or Chinese

(if you have acquired foreign nationality by birth but have studied at primary and secondary schools in China and have at least one parent who is Chinese, or have immigrated from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan to another country)

You need to upload the foreign passport(s) you have held, proof of entry-exit and stay (residency) in China (Chinese mainland, Macao, Taiwan, Hong Kong) in the past four years (April 30, 2022 – April 30, 2026).

* Certified English/Chinese translations are required if the original documents are neither in English nor in Chinese.

* The Admission Office will look for evidence for predicted qualification is realistic.

* If you are admitted, you must be able to produce the original copy of the uploaded document for verification upon request during the matriculation in September 2026. If any falsehood is found, SUFE reserves the right to revoke admission.

Application& Admission Process

You need to apply through SUFE Applicant Portal. The steps below will guide you through the process.

1. Take the China Scholastic Competency Assessment（CSCA）Math test

All the applicants must sit the Math test. You can choose either Chinese test or English test.

Important: It is advisable to take the CSCA test at an early date. Please check test dates and content at www.csca.cn and sign up for the test(s). The CSCA tests are designed to provide an objective measure of a student's proficiency in core subjects such as Math, Chinese language, and the test scores play a crucial role in the admission decision making process.

2. Remit the non-refundable application fee (CNY830 or the equivalent in foreign currency)

Only bank transfer is accepted.

* SUFE current students who are in the final year/semester can be waived of application fee. Please upload your student ID card scan as the application fee payment proof.

3. Register and submit application through SUFE Applicant Portal

Application must be made online at http://ao.sufe.edu.cn. 

After you submit your application through the Applicant Portal, you'll receive an email confirmation. To access the most up-to-date application status, you should log into the Applicant Portal with the username and password you used to create your applicant account. 

4. Interview
Shortlisted students will be invited for interview*. The interview will help our Admissions Officers to get to know you and your motivations for applying to SUFE; they contribute to our assessment of your academic potential and suitability for your chosen major, while giving you the opportunity to expand on the written elements of your application. 

* Admission Office will send interview schedule via email.

5. Our decision
Following the assessment of your application, there are two possible outcomes.

A. You' re made an offer.

B. Your application is unsuccessful. 

Admission Office will advise you of our decision one month after the interview. 

Most importantly, the Applicant Portal is where you'll view the admissions decision. Applicants will receive an email reminding them to check their portal and view the admission results once the decisions are released. When you log in, you'll see a crimson-colored banner with Admitted/Not Admitted. Click on that banner to view more details.

Those who have been offered a place should confirm whether to not accept the offer before July 20, 2026 via SUFE Applicant Portal.

Admission documents (admission letter, JW202 Form) will be sent out in late July 2026.
