Target Applicants
The pre-college program is designed for high school graduates:
who wish to enroll in undergraduate programs in business, economics, or humanities subject areas at SUFE or other Chinese universities but have not yet met the Chinese language proficiency requirements,
or who wish to improve their Chinese language and mathematical skills in a short period,
or who plan to take the HSK exam and hope to obtain an HSK level certificate (Level 4-5) through intensive learning in a short period.
Program Features
1. National-level Pre-College Education Base Empowering Professional Learning
SUFE has been a China Scholarship Council (CSC) - approved Business and Economics Pre-College Education Base for the Chinese Government Scholarship students since 2019. Almost 100% of the trainees have passed Chinese Government Scholarship pre-college graduation exams.
2. Efficient & Intensive Training in Chinese Language and Math
The program lasts for 16 weeks per semester, with 30-34 class hours per week (each class hour is 45 minutes), including Chinese and mathematics courses. Through intensive learning, students can quickly improve their Chinese and mathematical skills and meet the entry requirements for most business and economics undergraduate programs in China.
3. Ladder Directly into Undergraduate Studies at SUFE
Pre-college program participants can be admitted to SUFE's undergraduate programs without taking the admission assessment and are exempt from the application fee if they have obtained the HSK 5 certificate and CSCA results, passed the pre-college program exams, and meet the University's relevant regulations.
*It is required to attending interview if applying for scholarship.
4. Priority in Scholarship Candidates Selection
Pre-college program participants with HSK 4 certification and academic performance meeting the undergraduate admission criteria will be given priority consideration for Shanghai International Pre-college Program Scholarship. The Scholarship is funded by the Shanghai Municipal Government and covers 100% tuition, living expenses, and accommodation fees. Shanghai International Pre-college Program Scholarship students will receive one year of Chinese language training at Shanghai Normal University before starting undergraduate studies at SUFE.
Pre-college program participants with HSK 5 certification and academic performance meeting the undergraduate admission criteria will be given priority consideration for Shanghai Government Scholarship and SUFE Scholarship.
5. Campus Well-connected and Close to All Amenities
SUFE is located in Yangpu District, the northeast corner of Shanghai. The Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Station of Metro Line 18 is on campus, and Jiangwan Town Station of Metro Line 3 is a 5-minute walk away. The campus is well-connected by metro and bus lines so that you can get to the nearby shopping center, the Bund and People’s Square easily.

Applicants should be:
-non-Chinese citizens, aged between 18 and 60 years old, physically and mentally healthy, AND
-have completed high school studies, AND
-meet the entry requirement on Chinese language (No prior knowledge of Chinese language is required for beginner’s class*; Applicants whose Chinese proficiency is HSK3 or higher will be placed into the intermediate class).
*A beginner’s class is formed when there are at least 20 students.

3. Check Admission Decision
The Applicant Portal is where you'll view the admissions decision. Applicants will receive an email reminding them to check their portal and view their decision once the decisions are released. When you log in, you'll see a crimson-colored banner with Admitted/Not Admitted.
