Key Facts
The International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship offers full scholarships to all citizens (except for the People's Republic of China) to study in bachelor in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages.
The scholarship covers 100% tuition, medical insurance, on-campus accommodation and a living stipend (CNY2,500/month).
Application
Eligibility
Applicants shall meet all the following requirements:
a. be non-Chinese citizens.
b. be in good physical and mental conditions and with good academic performance and conduct.
c. be with no criminal record, and abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules and regulations of the University.
d. aspire to the Chinese language education and related work.
e. be aged between 16 and 25 (as of September 1, 2026).
f. be independent users of the Chinese language (HSK 4: 210, HSKK intermediate level: 60)
g. have completed senior high school education or will receive, by the summer before matriculation at SUFE in September 2026, a high school diploma.
Application Procedure
You will need to apply for admission to the bachelor program at SUFE, and applying separately for the scholarship.
Stage 1: Apply for admission to the bachelor program at SUFE (April 1, 2026-April 30, 2026)
Remit the application fee (CNY830 or its equivalent in foreign currency) and submit the program application through SUFE Applicant Portal.
Please note: You should have a China Scholastic Competency Assessment（CSCA）math test score report before April 30, 2026. You can choose either Chinese test or English test.
Stage 2: Apply for the scholarship before May 15, 2026
Fill out the application form and upload application materials online.
* Applicants can track the application status through the application portal.
Step 3: Take Evaluative Interview between April 2026 to May 2026
If shortlisted, you are required to take the online interview conducted by SUFE.
Step 4: Admission Results
Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) that will make the final decisions of scholarship awardees. In general, decisions are rendered about 3 months before the matriculation.
Step 5: Admission & Matriculation
Scholarship winners need to contact SUEF to confirm semester arrangements and matriculation procedures.
Application Documents
Please scan and upload the following documents through the application portal.
a. Photo.
b. Passport identification page.
c. HSK, HSKK score reports (the test score is valid for 2 years since the date of test).
d. One letter of reference by the head of the recommending institutions.
If you will choose SUFE as your recommending institution, please contact us after submitting your bachelor application form.
e. Certification of the highest education level (or proof of expected graduation).
f. Academic transcript.
g. China Scholastic Competency Assessment（CSCA）math test score report
h. Foreigner's Physical Examination Report
i. Police Clearance Certificate
Note:
* Applicants with documents issued in a language other than English and Chinese, will need to submit both the original and certified English/Chinese translation of the documents.
* An applicant under the age of 18 shall submit a commitment letter from of the guardian who lives in China and has been entrusted by the applicant’s parent(s).
* Applicants who are working as Chinese language teachers are required to provide proof of employment and a letter of recommendation from the employer.
* Applicants who have won the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate in Chinese Bridge competitions should submit their application documents along with their scholarship certificates through scholarship applicant portal.
