Recently, the 19th "Challenge Cup" National College Students' Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition concluded successfully at the university level. Among numerous projects, the research project on public breastfeeding rooms led by Hideyo Morishita (Japan) stood out, winning first prize and successfully advancing to the municipal competition. The project was guided by Professor Dong Jing, the dean of the college.

The inspiration for the project stemmed from the team members' daily observations of uncivilized behaviors in various breastfeeding rooms, which raised concerns about the rights protection of vulnerable mothers and infants in public spaces. To address this, the team members conducted extensive research and field surveys, starting from breastfeeding rooms around the university and gradually expanding to those within Shanghai and neighboring provinces. Through multiple site visits and meticulous observations and records, they accumulated a wealth of detailed data. Based on this, the team proposed innovative ideas, conducted in-depth research, and filled the research gap in the field of breastfeeding room information disclosure, ultimately completing a high-quality research report.
Team leader Hideyo Morishita said that the project had been in the making for a long time. Since 2024, the team had been continuously working on it, collecting research data from various places across the country, which greatly enriched the content of the report. During the preparation for the university final, team members worked overnight, with Tingjiao YANG GONG (Ecuador) taking the lead in perfecting the PPT and roadshow script.

The International Cultural Exchange College also provided comprehensive support for the research project. By organizing various entrepreneurship and innovation lectures, offering professional theoretical guidance, and allocating resources to assist the team in conducting surveys and interviews in other provinces, the college ensured the smooth progress of the project.

The "Challenge Cup" National College Students' Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition is a competition with orientation, demonstration, and mass participation, hosted by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the All-China Students Federation, and the people's governments of provinces. The outstanding performance in this university-level "Challenge Cup" competition fully demonstrated the research and innovation capabilities of international students at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, as well as the university's strong support for student scientific and technological innovation work. We look forward to the winning team continuing to achieve brilliant results in the subsequent competitions.
