In the golden autumn of October, the campus was brimming with energy. The 35th Sports Meeting of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) opened on 29–30 October at the athletics field on Wudong Campus.
International students from more than 20 countries, including Russia, Panama, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, took an active part in this year's sports meeting. Students from different cultural backgrounds came together through sport, striving side by side and encouraging one another on the same field. They displayed their youthful vitality in athletic competition, and deepened mutual understanding and friendship through exchange and cooperation.
At the opening ceremony, the contingent of international students made a splendid appearance. Dressed in matching uniforms, the students demonstrated an upbeat and youthful spirit with their neat, vigorous strides and dynamic performance, and the contingent won the First Prize for formation performance. Music, dance steps and the warm atmosphere of the venue intertwined as young people from different countries and regions performed together in harmony, bringing the diverse, open and inclusive campus culture into even sharper relief on the sports field.
In competition, the international students threw themselves wholeheartedly into the events and strove to be among the best. In the relay events, which demand both speed and teamwork, the students coordinated smoothly and sprinted at full effort, winning the championships in both the 4×100 m and 4×400 m events.
In the shot put, the athletes kept their composure and delivered mighty throws, likewise achieving excellent results.
In the tug-of-war, team members pulled together and fought hard, finishing third overall. Every sprint, every baton exchange, and every moment of gathered strength and perseverance tested both physical stamina and willpower, and consolidated the trust and cooperation within the team.
International students from different countries and regions supported one another and strove together on the field, making sport a common language that transcends linguistic and cultural differences. Although the sports meeting has drawn to a close, the spirit of endeavour and the love of sport live on. May faculty and students carry the perseverance, unity and courage shown on the field into their future study and life, keep running towards broader stages, and write their own youthful chapters.
