About SUFE MIB

Founded in 1917, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) is one of the earliest business universities in China and has evolved into a key multidisciplinary and research-oriented university with a focus on economics and management. SUFE is part of the national 211 Project and 985 Project Advantageous Discipline Innovation Platform and has been selected twice for the Double First-Class initiative by the government. The university spans over 812.9 acres with three campuses, the main campus located in Yangpu District, Shanghai. Currently, there are 20,470 students enrolled, including nearly 500 international students from 87 countries. SUFE has consistently ranked at the top among finance and economics universities in China according to the  China University Ranking.

The college of business of SUFE encompasses three primary disciplines: Business Administration, Applied Economics, and Theoretical Economics. In the fifth round of national discipline assessment by the Ministry of Education, both Business Administration and Applied Economics were rated A+, placing them in the top 2% nationwide.

As one of the first international business master's programs, SUFE's Master of International Business program has established a high-quality, internationalized talent training program with a comprehensive quality assurance system. The program has cultivated thousands of graduates who have gone on to work in multinational corporations, headquarter institutions, and international organizations, primarily in transnational company management, investment and financing services, and international trade.

Program Information

Language of Instruction: English

 Tuition: CNY 35,000 per semester, CNY 70,000 per academic year
 Scholarship: Full Chinese government scholarship, including tuition, insurance, on-campus accommodation, and living allowance (CNY 3,000 per month)

Application Documents

1.       Photo
 Upload a standard two-inch color ID photo with a white or blue background.

2.       Passport Information Page
 Submit a scan of the personal information page of a regular passport valid beyond January 31, 2026. If the current passport does not meet the validity requirements, please renew it in time. Applicants unable to obtain a passport before applying due to objective reasons should contact the university as soon as possible to confirm alternative documentation.

3.       Undergraduate Certificate and Degree
 Prospective graduates may provide a pre-graduation certificate issued by their university, indicating the start and expected graduation dates; a current student certificate containing this information may suffice.

4.       Transcripts of Highest Education
 Upload a complete transcript from the first year of undergraduate study to the time of application, stamped by the university. It is recommended to provide a grading system explanation, including but not limited to GPA calculation methods and course grading systems.

5.       Language Proficiency Proof
 Non-native English speakers must submit TOEFL or IELTS scores (TOEFL iBT 80 or IELTS (A) 6.5). If the preceding degree was obtained in English, an official document from the institution may replace the TOEFL/IELTS certificate.

        TOEFL and IELTS scores are valid for two years from the test date.

6.       Study/Research Plan
 Written in English, over 1000 words, signed by the applicant.

7.       Recommendation Letters
 Two from professors or associate professors. Letters should be in Chinese or English, indicating the recommender's affiliation, position, contact information, and signed by the recommender.

8.       Non-criminal Record Certificate
 Applicants must submit a non-criminal record certificate issued by the local public security authority, typically within six months before the application date. If unable to obtain this, upload a signed Non-criminal Record Commitment and explanatory statement.

9.       Financial Guarantee Certificate
 The financial guarantor must be a natural person over 18 with full civil capacity and a stable income source. The guarantor must truthfully fill out the Financial Guarantee Certificate and provide a scanned copy of the guarantor's passport (for foreigners) or ID card (for Chinese nationals).

10.       Foreigner Physical Examination Form (required for scholarship applicants)
 Applicants should arrange a physical examination at a local hospital within six months before the application date according to the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. The form must be completed in English by the hospital, and incomplete forms without a photo, seal over the photo, or without a doctor's and hospital's signature and stamp are invalid.

11.       Other Documents (if applicable)
 Other documents demonstrating academic ability and comprehensive quality, such as certificates of awards, published papers, skill certificates, resumes, etc.

         Applicants currently residing in mainland China must provide a valid visa or residence permit page.

         If there are multiple documents for the same material, please scan them into one PDF or Word file for upload.

         If the original application materials are in a foreign language other than Chinese or English, notarized Chinese/English translations must be submitted.

         The university may request additional materials from the applicant if necessary.

         Incomplete applications will not be processed.

         Please submit authentic materials. If the university discovers falsified information, it reserves the right to revoke admission or expel the student.

2.       Submit the application online.

           Applicants must register an account and log in to the SUFE Applicant Portal before February 28, 2025, fill in the application information, and upload scanned copies of the original documents in color as required.

3.       Document review and supplementation.

           Applicants should check the results of the document review through the application system and supplement the required materials as instructed.

4.       Participate in an online interview assessment.

           Applicants who pass the document review will receive an email notification to participate in an online interview assessment in early March. The interview is expected to take place in early March, with specific times and methods detailed in the email.

5.       Receive admission results.

           After the interview assessment, applicants are expected to receive admission results by mid-March. If admitted, confirm your intention to enroll in the application system promptly.

6.       Submit the Chinese Government Scholarship application.

           Admitted students will receive a notification from SUFE to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship by mid-March and must complete and submit the application according to the notification requirements.

7.       Receive official admission documents and scholarship application results.

           SUFE expects to receive the scholarship application results from the China Scholarship Council in June. Upon notification, the university will inform students of the scholarship results and issue the official admission notice and other materials.
